Rogelio is the Spanish form of Roger, from the Germanic Hrodger, meaning "famous spear", from hrod, fame, and ger, spear. It has been a traditional name in Mexico and the Philippines for generations and is a familiar choice in Mexican American families. In the United States Rogelio ranked number 481 in 2000, peaked at number 464 in 2005 and has gradually declined to number 1163 in 2025.
