Rigoberto is the Spanish form of the Germanic name Ricbert, from ric, power or ruler, and beraht, bright, so it means "bright ruler" or "famous through power". It traveled to Spain in the early Middle Ages and is still used in Mexico and Central America, which brought it to the United States. Rigoberto ranked number 681 in 2000 and peaked at number 633 in 2001, but has faded with other long Spanish names and sits at number 2034 in 2025.
