Rochel is the Ashkenazi Hebrew and Yiddish pronunciation of Rachel, written the way it is said in Orthodox Jewish communities; the name means "ewe", a symbol of gentleness. The biblical Rachel was Jacob's beloved wife and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, and her tomb near Bethlehem is a place of pilgrimage. In the United States Rochel is concentrated in Jewish neighborhoods; it climbed from number 1961 in 2015 to number 1466 in 2025, its best rank so far.
