Raina is usually explained as a form of Regina or the Spanish Reina and so means "queen"; in Bulgaria it is a traditional name of its own, and in English it is also heard as a spelling of Rain. The smooth two-syllable sound keeps it in use across several communities. Raina ranked number 961 in 2000, peaked at number 737 in 2011 and has stayed close to the edge of the top 1000 ever since, standing at number 916 in 2025.
