Pia is the feminine form of the Latin Pius and means "pious" or "devout". It is a classic in Italy, Germany and Scandinavia and is also used in India, which gives the three-letter name a wide international reach. In the United States Pia has always been rare; it has never entered the top 1000 but has moved up from number 2496 in 2015 to number 1419 in 2024 and 1456 in 2025.
