Orla is the anglicized form of the Irish Orlaith, from or, "gold", and flaith, "princess" or sovereign, so it is usually read as "golden princess". A sister and a daughter of the high king Brian Boru bore the name, and it has remained a classic in Ireland. In the United States Orla has slowly climbed from number 5883 in 2000 to number 2525 in 2024 and holds number 2532 in 2025.
