Ofelia is the Spanish and Italian form of Ophelia, a name usually traced to the Greek ophelos, which means "help" or "benefit"; it was coined by the poet Sannazaro and made famous by Shakespeare's Hamlet. In the Spanish-speaking world it has long been a given name in its own right, and the heroine of the film Pan's Labyrinth bears it. Ofelia has climbed from number 2734 in 2000 to a peak of number 1910 in 2024 and ranks number 2148 in 2025.
