Noriel is a modern name used mainly in Puerto Rican and other Latino families; it is usually explained as a form of Nuriel, a Hebrew angel name meaning "fire of God" or "light of God", with the -el ending shared by Gabriel and Uriel. It became more visible after the Puerto Rican trap artist Noriel rose to fame in the late 2010s. Noriel had fewer than five births in 2000, peaked at number 2223 in 2018 and ranks number 2918 in 2025 with 43 births.
