Nicolette is a French diminutive of Nicole, the feminine form of Nicholas, and means "victory of the people", from the Greek nike, victory, and laos, people. It had a vogue in the United States in the late 20th century, when Nicole was a top 10 name. Nicolette ranked number 590 in 2000, has since dropped out of the top 1000 and settled around number 1500 to 2000, standing at number 1729 in 2025.
