Naira has several roots: in Arabic it is a form of Nayyirah and means "shining" or "luminous", in the Aymara and Quechua languages of the Andes Nayra means "eye", and the name also happens to be Nigeria's currency. The soft sound places it next to Nadia and Naia. In the United States Naira has moved from number 3077 in 2015 to number 2365 in 2025, its best rank so far.
