Naia is a short, international name with several sources: in Basque it means "wave", in Hawaiian it is the word for "dolphin", and it echoes the Naiads, the water nymphs of Greek myth. Whatever the origin, water is the common thread. In the United States Naia moved from number 2083 in 2015 to a peak of number 1509 in 2023 and ranks at number 1585 in 2025.
