Naiomi is a modern spelling of Naomi, the Hebrew name that means "pleasantness" or "my delight". In the Book of Ruth Naomi is the mother-in-law whom Ruth refuses to leave, which made the name a symbol of loyalty. The spelling with an extra i is rare: Naiomi ranked number 8392 in the United States in 2000 and has slowly gained ground to number 2250 in 2025, its highest rank to date.
