Montserrat is the name of the jagged mountain near Barcelona and its Benedictine shrine of the Black Madonna; the Catalan name means "serrated mountain". Girls in Catalonia and Mexico are named for Our Lady of Montserrat, and the soprano Montserrat Caballé carried the name onto the world's opera stages. In the United States Montserrat entered the top 1000 in 2014 at number 574, its peak, and stands at number 1377 in 2025.
