Meera is an Indian name usually explained as "ocean" or "prosperous" in Sanskrit. It is best known through Meera Bai, the 16th-century Rajput princess and poet whose devotional songs to Krishna are still sung across India. In the United States Meera has sat between number 1100 and 1300 for a decade and reached number 1020 in 2025, its best rank since 2000.
