Mavery is a modern American coinage that blends Avery with the M of Maverick or Mavis; Avery itself goes back to the Norman French form of Alfred and means "elf counsel" or "wise ruler". The name has no history before this century and is best understood as a fresh sound in the family of Avery, Emery and Everly. Mavery climbed from number 11536 in 2015 to number 2506 in 2025, its best rank so far, with 71 girls given the name.
