Marwan is an Arabic name of uncertain meaning, most often explained as "flint" or "solid stone", from marw, a hard white quartz. Two caliphs of the Umayyad dynasty bore the name, and it remains common throughout the Arab world, especially in Egypt, Syria and North Africa. In the United States Marwan has stayed between number 2374 and 3320 since 2015 and ranks number 2376 among boys' names in 2025.
