Maiya is a spelling of Maya, a name with several sources: the Greek Maia, mother of Hermes and goddess of spring, whose name gave us the month of May and means "mother" or "nurse"; the Sanskrit maya, "illusion"; and the Hebrew mayim, "water". The i spelling is also found in Japanese, where Maiya is written with characters such as "dance" and "arrow". Maiya made the top 1000 only in 2000, at number 997, and ranks number 2398 in 2025.
