Lili is a short, European spelling of Lily, the flower name that stands for "lily" and, by tradition, for purity and innocence. In Hungary and Germany Lili is a long-established pet form of Elisabeth and Lilian, and it is familiar from the Hungarian actress Lili Darvas and the song Lili Marleen. Lili peaked at number 1429 among US girls in 2003 and has stayed in the 2500 to 3300 range for the past decade, ranking 2800 in 2025.
