Kolt is a respelling of Colt, an English word name that means "young horse" and that also brings to mind the Colt revolver, a staple of the American West. The k spelling gives the name an even more rugged, country look. In the United States Kolt ranked number 4701 in 2000, climbed to a best rank of number 1024 in 2020, just outside the top 1000, and stands at number 1414 in 2025.
