Kenna is a Scottish name that works both as a short form of Makenna and McKenna and as a feminine form of Kenneth, a Gaelic name that means "handsome" or "born of fire". It is short, soft and uncomplicated, which has kept it quietly in use in the United States for decades. Kenna has been in the top 1000 every year since 2000, when it ranked number 990; it peaked at number 661 in 2016 and ranks number 759 in 2025.
