Kendra is an American name from the mid-20th century, usually explained as a feminine form of Kendrick, whose Old English root Cyneric means "royal power", or as a blend of Ken and Sandra. It had its heyday in the 1980s and 1990s and peaked in the US top 200. Kendra was number 187 in 2000, its best recent year, and has slipped steadily to number 849 among girls in 2025.
