Kenai is a place name from Alaska, where the Kenai Peninsula, the Kenai River and the city of Kenai take their name from the Kenaitze, a Dena'ina Athabaskan people; it is usually explained as "flat land" or "the flats". Disney's 2003 film Brother Bear gave the name to its young hero and introduced it to American parents. Kenai ranked number 2079 in the United States in 2015, entered the top 1000 in 2023 and reached number 713 in 2025, its best rank so far.
