Karoline is the German, Scandinavian and Eastern European spelling of Caroline, the feminine form of Charles, and means "free woman". The K spelling has a crisp European look that sets it apart from the more common Caroline and Carolyn. In the United States Karoline has stayed in a stable band, from number 2199 in 2000 to a best rank of number 1576 in 2017 and number 1718 in 2025.
