Kailany is a modern American spelling of Kailani, a Hawaiian name built from kai, "sea", and lani, "sky" or "heaven", so it is usually read as "sea and sky". Like Leilani and Kehlani it belongs to the wave of Hawaiian-sounding names that American parents discovered in the 2010s. Kailany was almost unknown a decade ago, entered the top 1000 in 2024 and jumped to number 581 in 2025, its best rank so far.
