Julissa is a modern Latin American blend of Julia and the ending -issa (as in Melissa), so it carries the meaning of Julia, "youthful" or "downy-bearded", from the Roman family name Julius. It is especially popular in Hispanic communities in the United States. Julissa ranked number 369 in 2000, peaked at number 225 in 2006 and has since eased to number 1136 in 2025.
