Josefina is the Spanish and Scandinavian form of Josephine, the feminine of Joseph, which comes from the Hebrew Yosef and means "God will add" or "he shall increase". It has long been a staple in Mexico and across Latin America, often shortened to Fina or Pepita. In the United States Josefina has stayed remarkably steady, ranking number 1695 in 2000 and number 1891 in 2025.
