Joelle is the French feminine form of Joel, a Hebrew name meaning "Yahweh is God", after the prophet whose book is part of the Old Testament. It has the polished sound of Noelle and Giselle. In the United States Joelle ranked number 903 in 2000, peaked at number 673 in 2017 and has slipped to number 1009 in 2025, just outside the top 1000.
