Corinne is the French form of the Greek Korinna, a diminutive of kore, meaning "maiden". Korinna was an ancient Greek poet, and Madame de Staël's 1807 novel Corinne made the French form fashionable across Europe. In the United States Corinne ranked number 548 in 2000, slipped out of the top 1000 from 2021 to 2024 and returned at number 999 in 2025.
