Jeanette is a French diminutive of Jeanne, the feminine form of John, and means "God is gracious". It was a mid-century favorite in the United States, familiar from the singer and actress Jeanette MacDonald. Jeanette left the top 1000 after 2000, when it still ranked number 785, and today it is a rare choice at number 2391 in 2025.
