Jacklyn is an American spelling of Jacqueline, the French feminine form of Jacques, that is, James or Jacob, a Hebrew name usually read as "supplanter" or "holder of the heel". The simplified spelling was popular in the 1980s and 1990s alongside Jaclyn, which actress Jaclyn Smith made familiar. Jacklyn ranked number 806 in 2000, dropped out of the top 1000 soon afterward and stands at number 2570 in 2025.
