Ilaria is the Italian form of Hilaria and comes from the Latin hilaris, meaning "cheerful" or "joyful", the same root as the English word hilarious. It is a common name in Italy, where Saint Ilaria is remembered as an early Christian martyr. In the United States Ilaria is a newcomer that has climbed from around number 5000 in 2015 to number 2835 in 2025, its best rank yet.
