Henrik is the Scandinavian and Hungarian form of Henry, from the Germanic Heinrich, meaning "home ruler" or "ruler of the household". The playwright Henrik Ibsen is its most famous bearer; in the United States the name has grown alongside the general rise of Henry and of Nordic names like Soren and Leif. Henrik entered the US top 1000 in 2014, peaked at number 758 in 2018 and ranks number 1060 in 2025.
