Hendrik is the Dutch, Afrikaans and Estonian form of Henry, from the Germanic Heimirich, and means "home ruler" or "ruler of the household". It has been a Dutch classic since the Middle Ages, and the painter Hendrick Avercamp and the Afrikaner leader Hendrik Verwoerd carried it into history books. In the United States Hendrik ranked number 4110 in 2000, peaked at number 1783 in 2020 and stood at number 2620 in 2025 with 50 boys.
