Harlym is a modern respelling of Harlem, the Manhattan neighborhood that was named after the Dutch city of Haarlem; that name is usually explained as "home on a wooded height" or "home on a sandy ridge". As a girls' name it honors the cultural legacy of the Harlem Renaissance while fitting in with Harlow and Harley. Harlym was too rare to be recorded in 2000; it climbed from number 5035 in 2015 to number 2264 in 2025, its highest rank so far.
