Gionni is an American spelling of Gianni, the Italian short form of Giovanni, which is John and means "God is gracious", from the Hebrew Yohanan. The spelling with o echoes Giovanni and is used mostly in Hispanic and African American families rather than in Italy itself. Gionni rose from number 6051 in 2000 to number 1041 in 2012, just short of the top 1000, and has eased to number 2655 in 2025 with 49 boys.
