Giada is the Italian word for "jade", the green gemstone, and so the Italian counterpart of the English name Jade. In America it is closely associated with Giada De Laurentiis, the television chef whose shows brought the name to a wide audience in the 2000s. Giada entered the US top 1000 in 2007 and peaked at number 754 in 2010; it has since returned to the fringe of the list and ranks 1438 in 2025.
