Georgie is a pet form of Georgia and Georgina, feminine versions of George, from the Greek georgos, "farmer" or "earth worker". Long a British nursery nickname, it has joined Frankie, Billie and Charlie in the American trend of giving boyish nicknames to girls. Georgie was rare in 2015 at number 5185 but has climbed steadily to number 1361 in 2025, its best rank so far.
