Fahad is an Arabic name meaning "panther" or "leopard", from fahd, and like Asad, lion, it belongs to the tradition of naming boys after powerful animals. It is especially common in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, where King Fahd ruled from 1982 to 2005, as well as in Pakistan. In the United States Fahad ranked number 2762 in 2000, peaked at number 2038 in 2017 and has stayed in a narrow band since, ranking number 2459 in 2025 with 55 boys.
