Eugenia is the feminine form of Eugene and comes from the Greek eugenes, meaning "well-born" or "noble". Saint Eugenia of Rome was an early Christian martyr, and Empress Eugénie of France gave the name a glamorous 19th-century turn. In the United States Eugenia is a vintage rarity: it ranked 2317 in 2000, dipped to number 4094 in 2015 and has recovered to number 2787 in 2025.
