Elisa is a short form of Elisabeth used in Italian, Spanish and German, and carries the Hebrew meaning of Elizabeth, "my God is an oath" or "God is abundance". Beethoven's piano piece Für Elise made the related form famous, and in the United States Elisa reads as a softer, more European alternative to Lisa. The name has stayed in the top 1000 all century, from number 520 in 2000 to a peak of number 368 in 2012, and ranks number 458 in 2025.
