Eldon is an English surname and place name from Old English, usually explained as "Ella's hill" or "old hill". It was a modestly popular given name in the early 20th century and now has the appeal of a rediscovered grandpa name, in step with Alden and Walton. Eldon peaked at number 1981 in 2017, remains outside the US top 1000 and ranks number 2311 in 2025.
