Dariel is a modern name of uncertain origin, usually explained as a variant of Darrell, which goes back to the Norman French surname d'Airelle, meaning "from Airelle", a village in Normandy; others see a blend of Dario and the Hebrew ending -el, "God". It is especially popular in Dominican and other Latino families in the United States. Dariel entered the top 1000 in 2014, climbed from number 865 in 2015 to 327 in 2025 and stands at its highest rank yet.
