Chava is the Hebrew form of Eve and means "life" or "living one", the name of the first woman in the Bible. It is used mainly in Jewish families, and many Americans know it from Tevye's daughter Chava in Fiddler on the Roof. The name has crept upward in the United States, peaking at number 1399 in 2024, and ranks number 1737 among girls' names in 2025.
