Chace is a variant spelling of Chase, an English surname from the Old French chacier, which means "to hunt" and was given to a huntsman. The spelling rose sharply after actor Chace Crawford became known through the series Gossip Girl in 2007. Chace entered the US top 1000 in 2008 and peaked at number 528 in 2009, but it dropped out again within a few years and ranks number 2772 in 2025.
