Bodie is a modern American name with several sources: it is a spelling of Bodhi, the Sanskrit word for "enlightenment", a form of the Scandinavian Bo, usually read as "dweller" or "resident", and the name of a famous California gold-rush ghost town. Its breezy sound and the surf-movie association of Point Break make it a cousin of Beau and Brody.
