Blanca is the Spanish word for "white" and by extension "fair", a name that began as a medieval nickname for a fair-haired or fair-skinned girl. Blanca of Castile, queen of France and mother of Saint Louis, carried it into European royalty in the 13th century. Blanca ranked number 643 in the United States in 2000, peaked at number 623 in 2001 and has settled around number 1800 to 2000 for the last decade, standing at number 1857 in 2025.
