Bianca is an Italian name that means "white" or "fair", the Italian counterpart of the French Blanche. Shakespeare used it twice, for Katherina's gentler sister in The Taming of the Shrew and for a character in Othello, which carried it into English. Bianca was number 170 in 2000, peaked at number 156 the following year and has settled in the 400s for the past decade, ranking number 500 in 2025.
