Aydan is one of the many American spellings of Aidan, from the Irish Aodhán, a diminutive of Aodh, the Celtic god of fire, so it means "little fire". In Turkish, Aydan is a separate name meaning "from the moon". This spelling rode the Aidan wave of the 2000s: it entered the top 1000 in 2003, peaked at number 570 in 2008 and has since declined to number 1853 in 2025.
