Arina is the Russian folk form of Irina, which goes back to the Greek Eirene and means "peace". Russians remember Arina Rodionovna, the nanny whose folk tales shaped the young Pushkin, and the name has been in fashion in Russia and Ukraine since the 2000s. In the United States it is used mostly by families from Eastern Europe: number 9974 in 2000, a peak at number 2286 in 2017 and number 2654 in 2025 with 65 girls.
