Alyvia is a modern American respelling of Olivia and shares its meaning: from the Latin oliva, "olive" or "olive tree", an ancient symbol of peace. The y-spelling took off while Olivia itself was marching toward number one. Alyvia entered the top 1000 in 2007, peaked at number 808 in 2013 and has since slipped to number 1833 in 2025, even as the classic spelling stays on top.
